Austrian transport operator orders 23 trams from Bombardier

BERLIN - Austrian transport operator Linz Linien has placed a US$93-million order for another 23 trams from Bombardier Inc. (TSX: BBD-B.TO), the Montreal-based rail and aerospace equipment maker.
The Flexity Outlook trams are manufactured at Bombardier's factories in Vienna and Bautzen, Germany. Delivery of the first vehicles in the new order is planned for the beginning of 2011.
Flexity Outlook trams have been used in Linz, Austria's third-largest city, since 2001.
In a separate announcement from Berlin, Bombardier Transport also said Friday B.C.'s Translink service has ordered seven two-level commuter rail vehicles in a deal valued at $21 million.
The order will add to an existing fleet of 37 BiLevel cars providing commuter rail service in the Vancouver region. Deliveries are expected to begin in July 2010 and extend through September 2010.
Bombardier B shares traded Friday at $3.37, up two cents, at the Toronto Stock Exchange.
