NEW YORK, June 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Princeton Review and Modality announced today that their SAT (R) Vocab Challenge application has been awarded the "Editor's Choice Award" by Children's Technology Review, a leading authority on technology products for children.
Designed for the iPhone(TM) and iPod touch(R), the application is a college admissions exam resource that helps users master their understanding and usage of 250 words, including The Princeton Review's Hit parade - a list of 100 words that most frequently appear on the SAT.
The Editor's Choice Awards are given to the highest quality children's products in the interactive technology space. Each month Children's Technology Review's editors assess a wide variety of new interactive technology products based on five criteria: ease of use, education, entertainment, design features and value.
"We are excited that the SAT Vocab Challenge has been recognized by a leading authority on children's technology products," said Robert Franek, SVP/Publisher of The Princeton Review. "When used via the revolutionary iPhone and iPod touch, there's no question that the application can be an invaluable tool for any student preparing for the SAT." Franek added that vocabulary building is "one of the easiest and most effective ways to improve an SAT score."
The SAT Vocab Challenge is available for $4.99 from Apple's App Store on iPhone and iPod touch (or at www.itunes.com/appstore/), and a video demonstration of it may be viewed online at www.Modality.com. Additionally, since introduced this past May it has ranked as one of the top paid applications in the education category.
Created in partnership with Modality, the premiere mobile learning architect for the iPhone and iPod touch, the SAT Vocab Challenge's innovative framework takes full advantage of the multi-touch user interface of the devices. For example, students can quickly select answers by swiping the screen or shaking the device.
Features of SAT Vocab Challenge include four distinct types of timed challenges that focus on definitions, connotations, synonyms, and antonyms; a word index with definitions, pronunciations, and parts of speech; and a word tracker that keeps tabs on which words have been mastered in all four games.
