DUBLIN, Ireland--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/67347e/china_sourcing_rep) has announced the addition of the "China Sourcing Report: VoIP Phones" report to their offering.

Based on in-factory tours, China's VoIP phone makers are looking to corner their share of the US$20 billion global VoIP hardware market. But the industry is facing tough challenges. Fierce competition, higher production cost, domestic market slowdown and IPR issues have led to the supplier base dwindling by half.

Surviving makers are now investing on technology upgrades and quality control, to differentiate their products, and ramping up production to capitalize on the booming demand for VoIP phones in Europe and the US.

Ensure that you identify the right VoIP phone suppliers from China with the essential sourcing information found in this report:

- Determine which makers are expanding their product range to include analog terminal adapters (ATA), IP PBXs and gateways

- Find out which vendors are integrating wireless technologies, such as Bluetooth, DECT and Wi-Fi, in their VoIP models to bring in better profits

- Discover which suppliers avoid patent infringement by choosing solutions from leading chipset companies such as Texas Instruments

With profiles of 31 suppliers, 94 products and a comprehensive overview of China's VoIP phones market, this report will answer all these questions...and MORE.

What you'll get:

- In-depth profile tables for 12 leading China-based manufacturers detailing their background, manufacturing and export strengths, R&D plans and more. Based on factory visits and personal interviews with senior managers, this information is not available anywhere else

- Short profiles of 19 additional makers highlighting key sourcing information including company details, production capacity and key export markets

- A gallery of the 94 most popular export models complete with full-color photographs and top-line specifications

- The results of Global Sources' latest supplier survey, forecasting production, export and R&D trends for the next 12 months

- A price guide that lists specific features and functions buyers can expect per price range

- An easy-to-use table of verified contact details including contact person, phone numbers, email addresses and website URLs to help you reach the makers featured in this report

- This report covers both wired and wireless VoIP phones including standalone, Wi-Fi VoIP, USB VoIP, Skype and Skype USB VoIP phones

Executive Summary:

Fierce competition, higher production cost and low sales potential in the domestic market are factors contributing to the consolidation of China's VoIP phone industry. The supplier base has dwindled by half, from about 400 makers in 2006. Lower profit margins as a result of the yuan's appreciation against the US dollar and the rise in labor cost are driving many makers out of the line. Especially hard hit are suppliers that relied mainly on competitive pricing when they entered the industry.

Apart from production cost, suppliers also have to deal with IPR issues. Many IPRs are involved in the design and product development of VoIP phones. Acquiring these rights incurs IPR fees for makers, which translates into higher product development cost.

China suppliers that can survive these challenges are compelled to focus on the export market due to the limited potential in the local market, which is hampered by strict government policies governing the use of VoIP services and the dominance of a few large-scale players.

Nonetheless, suppliers are optimistic that exports will continue to grow, although at a slower rate than two to three years ago when the global VoIP market picked up pace. To remain competitive, makers are expanding their product range to include other types of VoIP products such as analog terminal adapters (ATA), IP PBXs and gateways. Some suppliers are offering a wider choice of VoIP phone models, while others are shifting their focus to high-end products, which bring in better profits.

The following are some of the key trends that we see in China's VoIP phone industry:

- Suppliers will continue to export the bulk of their products, mainly to Europe and the US.

- Export quotes are likely to increase in the coming months as suppliers begin to feel the pressure of rising production costs.

- Many suppliers will release more wireless VoIP phones based on Bluetooth, DECT and Wi-FI technologies due to the slim profit margins for wired models.

- Apart from wireless technology, product development will continue to move toward integration of value-added functions such as videoconferencing and dual mode.

- Many companies will expand their production capacity in anticipation of increase in overseas demand. Some suppliers, however, are more cautious and will maintain their existing capacity.
