Geo and Alix Announce Initial Ground Work on Coal Properties in Saskatchewan

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Oct. 2, 2008) - GEO MINERALS LTD. (TSX VENTURE: GM.V) and ALIX RESOURCES CORP. (TSX VENTURE: AIX.V) (The "Companies") have applied for additional coal dispositions, totaling approximately 9,200 hectares, that cover historic near-surface coal intercepts within the Mannville Group and within the mineralized trend that host the recent Goldsource Mines coal discovery.

Alix and Geo have now applied for a total of approximately 147,000 hectares or 375,000 acres of prospective ground at Wapawekka Lake, Montreal Lake, La Ronge, Narrow Hills and north of Pasquia Hills. Review of historical reports on these prospects have identified 6 coal outcrops and 3 coal intercepts. A complete updated map will be available soon on the Alix and Geo websites.

These new applications are to the west of Wapawekka Lake. This area between Lac La Ronge and Wapawekka Lake have had some exploratory drilling conducted in the past. The historic drilling discovered at least one hole drilled in 1971 by Flin Flon Mines Ltd., which intercepted a near surface 17 foot coal zone, from a depth of 35 feet to 52 feet depth.

This area is west of the 6 coal outcrops (known and mapped) that occur over a 3.5 mile distance. Of note, a Department of Mineral Resources, Province of Saskatchewan publication titled "Silica Sand and Coal Occurrences on Wapawekka Lake" by W.J. Pearson 1961, states: "The coal outcrops at Wapawekka lake...may indicate the northern edge of a coal field lying to the south, southwest and west of Wapawekka Lake."

A review of filed technical reports that cover any past work on the areas under coal disposition application is under way in Regina. All ground except for the recent applications have received first priority comfort letters from the Saskatchewan Ministry of Energy and Resources.

The Companies geologic team will be travelling to the properties on October 6,2008 for initial reconnaissance including pinpointing the Wapawekka outcrops, and general examination of all the ground applied for by Alix and Geo.

Applications will be made to the appropriate Saskatchewan authorities for trenching and near surface drilling after this initial program and further review of all available public material.
