BOSTON, Oct. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Eaton Vance Tax-Advantaged Global Dividend Opportunities Fund (NYSE: ETO), a closed-end investment company, today announced the earnings of the Fund for the three months ended July 31, 2009 and the nine months ended July 31, 2009. The Fund's fiscal year ends on October 31, 2009.
For the three months ended July 31, 2009, the Fund had net investment income of $5,182,099 ($0.357 per common share). For the nine months ended July 31, 2009, the Fund had net investment income of $19,458,426 ($1.340 per common share). In comparison, for the three months ended July 31, 2008, the Fund had net investment income of $11,921,190 ($0.821 per common share). For the nine months ended July 31, 2008, the Fund had net investment income of $34,456,676 ($2.373 per common share). From this amount, the Fund paid dividends on preferred shares of $2,898,188 (equal to $0.200 for each common share), resulting in net investment income after the preferred dividends of $31,558,488 or $2.173 per common share.
Net realized and unrealized gains for the three months ended July 31, 2009 were $45,139,847 ($3.109 per common share) and net realized and unrealized gains for the nine months ended July 31, 2009 were $420,957 ($0.029 per common share). In comparison, net realized and unrealized losses for the three months ended July 31, 2008 were $62,706,812 ($4.321 per common share) and net realized and unrealized losses for the nine months ended July 31, 2008 were $106,506,321 ($7.336 per common share).
On July 31, 2009, net assets of the Fund were $265,705,952. The net asset value per common share on July 31, 2009 was $18.30 based on 14,519,257 common shares outstanding. In comparison, on July 31, 2008, net assets of the Fund were $443,257,024. The net asset value per common share on July 31, 2008 was $30.53 based on 14,519,257 common shares outstanding.
