Fri Aug 8, 9:21 AM

HANOVER, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BIOTECHNICA 2008 is offering for the first time a German-Russian biotechnology workshop. The aim of the new platform is to foster scientific exchange and convey information on the research landscapes of the two countries. Together with the Association of German Biotech Companies (VBU), the East-West Science Center of the University of Kassel (OWWZ) is organizing the new forum as part of the Central European Biotechnology Fair.

It is aimed primarily at scientists and companies from Russia and Germany, as well as those interested in visiting fairs. "The event provides all participants with an ideal opportunity to gain a quick and comprehensive overview of the biotechnology market in Russia and Germany, make new contacts and link up with networks", states Stephan Kühne, Member of the Board of Directors of Deutsche Messe AG, Hanover. All application areas of modern biotechnology in both countries will be touched upon. The focus will also be on technology transfer from research up to and including production. In addition, strategies for successful cooperation between science and industry will be spotlighted. The agenda also features topics such as "Intellectual property in Germany and Russia" and "Financing of company launches".

The "BioBusiness" conference will be held on 7 October, from 14.00 to 17.00, at the Convention Center (CC), Hanover Exhibition Grounds (Raum München). Participation is free of charge. Interested parties are kindly requested to register beforehand. You can find further information on the workshop programme and registration at www.owwz.de.
