Sundia Chooses High Energy, Catchy Rap Watermelon Video to Win $5000
Thu Oct 9, 12:02 PMOAKLAND, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The high energy, catchy tune sealed the win for Joel Levinson in Sundiaâs search for the best watermelon video. The 27-year old who enters online contests for a living wins $5,000 from Sundia, Americaâs leading watermelon brand and maker of True Fruitâ¢, a line of ready-to-eat fruit in Grab ân Go cups.
The contest period spanned the summer months when watermelon takes center stage in backyard barbecues, pool parties, and picnics. Sundia asked participants to come up with the best watermelon video using only original material. Levinsonâs video, featuring his original song and script, was selected the grand prize winner for its creativity and originality.
Itâs the 10th online contest that Levinson has won during the past 12 months. âThe $5,000 will go a long way towards enabling me to continue making my living by winning contests,â said Levinson. âEntering contests gives me a chance to be creative and have fun.â
Six other videos were selected as finalists, and their creators will receive $100 from Sundia. The videos were judged primarily on creativity and originality. They can be viewed at http://sundiafruit.com/VideoAward/video.php.
âThis contest was a fun way for us to highlight watermelon, possibly the worldâs most popular fruit,â said Dan Hoskins, chief operating officer for Sundia Corporation. With watermelonâs year-round availability, annual per capita consumption of watermelon in the United States is approximately 16 pounds per person.
âWatermelon is no longer just a summer fruit, which is a good thing given its incredible health benefits,â said Hoskins. Watermelon is loaded with many of natureâs most important antioxidants. It is also the best source of lycopene, which studies suggest reduces the risks for certain cancers. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, watermelon can contain up to 40% more lycopene than an equal amount of raw tomatoes.
Sundia Corporation (www.sundiafruit.com) is the fastest growing produce brand in North America. With a goal to promote increased consumption of fruit and vegetables, the companyâs products include fresh watermelon, ready-to-eat True Fruitâ¢, honeydew, and other fruits â all of which are sold in produce sections of grocery stores. The company also markets its patented watermelon concentrate.
