Toronto stocks hit record close

TORONTO (Reuters) - The Toronto Stock Exchange's main index ended at an unofficial record high close on Monday, buoyed by energy shares as EnCana's plan to split itself boosted speculation of similar moves from other companies in the sector.

TORONTO (Reuters) - The Toronto Stock Exchange's main index ended at an unofficial record high close on Monday, buoyed by energy shares as EnCana's plan to split itself boosted speculation of similar moves from other companies in the sector.

The S&P/TSX composite index unofficially closed up 147.31 points, or 1.01 percent, at 14,668.50.
