Bombardier signs US$383M locomotive contract with Italy's Trenitalia

BERLIN - Bombardier Transportation (TSX: BBD-B.TO) said Wednesday it has won a US$383-million contract to provide 100 electric locomotives to Italy's Trenitalia.

The contract, which carries an option to acquire 50 more of the E464 locomotives, adds to previously received orders from Trenitalia for a total of 638 locomotives.

Delivery is scheduled for between 2010 and 2012.

Bombardier Transportation is the rail manufacturing division of Montreal-based plane and train maker Bombardier. Shares in the company were up two cents at C$4.96 in morning trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
