BERLIN - Bombardier Transportation (TSX: BBD-B.TO) has announced a contract worth US$202 million over 14 years to help maintain high-speed trains for Spanish national rail operator RENFE.

The Berlin-headquarted rail equipment division of Montreal-based Bombardier Inc. said Thursday it won the work in a consortium with Spanish train maker Talgo.

They will maintain 45 AVE S-130 trains, which have a top speed of 250 km/h, at RENFE depots in Madrid until 2022.

"This maintenance contract will help to consolidate Bombardier's leadership position in the comprehensive high-speed-rail program being implemented in Spain, one of the most advanced in the world," Bombardier stated.
