Bank of Japan holds key interest rate at 0.1 pct
Thu Sep 17, 12:08 AMTOKYO (AFP) - Japan's central bank on Thursday left its key interest rate unchanged at 0.1 percent, maintaining its stimulative measures aimed at reviving the economy after its worst slump in decades.
The decision by the eight-member policy board was unanimous, the Bank of Japan said in a statement.
The Bank has been fighting a severe recession with super-low interest rates and a policy of buying up corporate debt to keep credit flowing to firms during the financial crisis.
