VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Aug. 18, 2008) - Sultan Minerals Inc. (TSX VENTURE: SUL.V)(FRANKFURT: RZN.F) ("Sultan") is pleased to report assays for seven underground diamond drill holes from the ongoing exploration program at its 100% owned Jersey-Emerald Molybdenum-Tungsten Property located near Salmo, British Columbia.

The seven holes successfully tested the lateral limits of the Dodger Molybdenum Zone extending the zone 200 feet to the south. This large molybdenum-bearing stockwork has now been intersected in 36 diamond drill holes over an area measuring 3,200 feet (1,000 metres) north-south by 900 feet (300 metres) east-west. The zone remains open in most directions.

Highlights of the program are drill-holes JM08-08 and JM08-09 where very favourable results expand the Dodger Molybdenum Zone to the south. Hole JM08-08 assayed 0.16% molybdenum (MoS2) over a core length of 85.0 feet within a 288.0 foot section that averaged 0.07% MoS2. The hole contained several very high-grade molybdenum bearing zones including 1.74% MoS2 over 3.0 feet, 0.44% MoS2 over 5.0 feet and 0.81% MoS2 over 4.3 feet. Hole JM08-09, located 100 feet south of hole JM08-08, assayed 0.08% MoS2 over a core length of 105.0 feet including 1.04% MoS2 over 5.0 feet. This hole also intersected a 10.0-foot wide quartz vein that assayed 0.5% MoS2 and 0.40 g/t gold.

Tungsten mineralization was also intersected in many of the holes and is believed to represent the western extension of the East Dodger Tungsten Zone. The most notable intercept was in hole JM08-09 that assayed 0.73% tungsten (WO3) over a core length of 9.10 feet within a 23.6 foot section that averaged 0.35% WO3.

Significant assay intersections for the seven holes are tabled below:

Note 1: All dimensions and core lengths are recorded in feet in order
that results are compatible with the historic mine grid and the
existing five databases of 5,600 drill holes. Convert feet to
        metres by multiplying by 0.304.

Note 2: Drill hole intersection angles vary from 30 degrees to 85 degrees
suggesting that the true width of these intersections may range
from 50% to 95% of the drill core intersection length.

Drill holes JM08-06 and JM08-07 were collared at a single location 600 feet west of hole JM08-08 where they encountered narrow bands of mineralization. These holes and previously reported holes JM08-04 and JM08-05 are believed to define the southwest margin of the molybdenum zone.

Drill hole JM08-10 was abandoned due to bad drilling conditions at a hole depth of 175.0 feet, interpreted to be well above the molybdenum zone. The hole was successful in penetrating the overlying tungsten mineralization before it was abandoned.

Drill hole JM08-12 was a short vertical hole collared 800 feet southwest of JM08-08 to test for zinc mineralization. Only weak zinc mineralization was encountered.

Diamond drilling is presently under way on the recently discovered East Emerald Tungsten Zone where assays are pending for eight surface drill holes. This bulk tonnage deposit has been successfully traced by drilling over a length of 2,700 feet (800 metres) and a width of 700 feet (200 metres). The zone is up to 700 feet (200 metres) thick and remains open to the north, south and west.

Mr. Ed Lawrence, P.Eng, former Manager of the Jersey and Emerald Mines under Placer-Dome, oversees all on-going diamond drilling programs for Sultan. Mr. Perry Grunenberg, P.Geo., of PBG Geoscience from Kamloops, BC, is Sultan's project supervisor and "Qualified Person" as defined by NI 43-101, "Standards of Disclosure for Mineral Projects".
