NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. stocks opened lower on Wednesday after data showed U.S. housing starts fell unexpectedly in October, offsetting strength in the natural resources sectors amid U.S. dollar weakness.
The Dow Jones industrial average was down 28.72 points, or 0.28 percent, at 10,408.70. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index dipped 2.23 points, or 0.20 percent, at 1,108.09. The Nasdaq Composite Index fell 8.97 points, or 0.41 percent, at 2,194.81.
