EurOmax discovers oxide-copper zone at Kazandol project in Macedonia
Thu Jun 19, 8:27 AMVANCOUVER, June 19 /CNW/ - EurOmax Resources Limited (TSX-V: EOX.V) is pleased to announce the results of diamond drilling at the Kazandol oxide-copper project in Macedonia including 47 metres at 0.6% copper from surface.
Drilling and mapping (see attached map at www.euromaxresources.com) have now defined an extensive sub-horizontal copper zone in greenschists above a thrust fault with un-mineralized granite in the lower thrust sheet. This copper-bearing upper plate outcrops over an area of 800 metres by 800 metres and is believed to extend up to 5 kilometres to the south beneath a wide zone of elevated copper geochemistry. See attached map and section.
John Menzies, Chairman and CEO commented "prior to this phase of drilling
the distribution of mineralization was difficult to understand but the
application of a simple thrust geometry readily explains the distribution
of mineralization and highlights the obvious potential."
Copper mineralization is restricted to the upper plate greenschists and occurs predominantly as the oxide copper minerals tenorite and malachite.
Results of the five holes drilled to date are:
- EOKC 801: 23 metres at 0.11% copper, from 0.0 to 23.0m;
- EOKC 802: 21 metres at 0.15% copper, from 28.3 to 49.8m
- EOKC 803: 47 metres at 0.59% copper, from 0.0 to 47.1m;
- EOKC 804: 27 metres at 0.54% copper, from 24.0 to 51.0m.
- EOKC 805: 20 metres at 0.23% copper from 0.0m
Previously reported trenching across the upper plate rocks has produced wide intercepts including 210 metres at 0.4% copper, 200 metres at 0.3% copper and 175 metres at 0.4% copper. The upper plate rocks show widespread and consistent copper-oxide mineralization. Additional shallow vertical drilling is planned to better define the extent of outcropping mineralization at Kazandol North and below thin cover to the south.
EurOmax is exploring the property for oxide copper mineralization which could be amenable to low cost Solvent Extraction Electro-winning (SX-EW) technology. The Kazandol property is crossed by a regional power transmission line and paved roads. It is only 25 kilometres from a rail terminal. The Kazandol North target is positioned along a steep 1.5 kilometre long ridge with up to 100 metres relief above the surrounding terrain.

Quality control and Quality Assurance
Diamond drillhole samples are cut and crushed at a sample preparation facility in Macedonia overseen by EurOmax personnel. Assays are undertaken at Eurotest AD laboratory in Sofia, Bulgaria, an ISO9001 accredited facility. Quality control samples, standards and blanks, are routinely submitted. Copper is assayed by a 50 gram acid digest AAS finish.
