Boss exploration - Five new zones of copper-gold mineralization located
Mon Oct 20, 6:01 AMCALGARY, Oct. 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - Boxxer Gold Corp (TSXV - "BXX") is pleased to announce that it has located five new zones of copper mineralization on its 100% owned Boss project located in southern Nevada. The five zones occur within the area referred to as the Boss Extension where continuous channel sampling has returned 2.11% copper, 0.22 g/t gold, and 26.93 g/t silver over a continuous interval of 13.90 metres. The analytical results for the channel sampling of two (referred to as Boss # 4 and Boss #5) of the six zones (To view Figure-1 please see http://files.newswire.ca/758/Boxxer_Boss_project.doc) are listed below.
Mr. Elmer Stewart, President and CEO of Boxxer stated, "The discovery of the Boss # 4 and Boss # 5 zones have doubled the potential size of the Boss Extension zone to approximately 600 m long by 500 m wide and at least 175 m vertically. These new results have a different geochemical signature than the results from the other mineralized areas within the Boss Extension and suggest that at least two or three distinct phases of mineralization have occurred on the property".
Summary of Results:
Two of the five new zones of copper oxide mineralization occur in that area of the Boss Extension that has been described in a previous news release (see news release dated May 15, 2008). The other three zones occur within an area that measures 200 m long by 150 m wide located approximately 150 metres south of the Boss # 3 zone. The mineralization in the Boss # 5 zone contains a significant content of both lead and zinc, whereas the mineralization exposed in Boss # 4 contains very minor concentrations of lead and zinc.
Boss # 5:
This adit extends into bedrock for a distance of 13.90 metres and returned an average of 2.11% copper, 0.22 g/t gold and 26.93 g/t silver from the portal to the back end of the underground workings. The copper mineralization extends past the end of the underground workings into the bedrock. Over this interval, disseminated and veinlets of copper oxide (malachite) mineralization occur in brecciated and sheared coarse grained dolomite. Analytical results for the individual channel samples are set out below.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sample # Interval Copper Gold Silver Lead Zinc
(m) (%) (g/t) (g/t) (%) (%)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
BM5-01-08 4.70 1.55 0.34 15.60 0.04 0.29
BM5-02-08 4.10 2.84 0.34 38.30 0.07 0.33
BM5-03-08 5.10 2.04 0.03 18.23 0.04 0.12
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Average 13.90 2.11 0.22 26.93 0.05 0.24
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
The zone also contains from 333 to 986 parts per million cobalt. Copper oxide mineralization is exposed in outcrop around the Boss # 5 adit over a vertical distance of at least 10 metres and over a horizontal distance of 40 metres to the east and 10 metres to the west.
Boss # 4:
One sample from the copper oxide (malachite) mineralization exposed in outcrop was collected over a vertical interval of 1.80 metres. The copper mineralization consisting of disseminations and veinlets of malachite is exposed in outcrop over a distance of approximately 50 metres to the west and over a vertical distance of 15 metres. Analytical results for the 1.80 metre vertical sample from the Boss # 4 zone is set out below:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sample # Interval (m) Copper (%) Gold (g/t) Silver (g/t)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
BM4-01-08 1.80 1.18 0.06 13.80
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boss # 6:
This zone is located approximately 100 metres southwest of and 30 metres below the Boss # 5 zone and consists of disseminated and veinlets of copper oxide (malachite) mineralization exposed in outcrop. Sampling of this zone has been completed, analytical results are pending.
Future Plans:
In anticipation of commencement of a diamond drilling program, channel sampling of all the underground working on the third, fourth, fifth and sixth level of the Boss Mine is planned. The results of this work would be combined with the anticipated diamond drill results to produce a three dimensional model of the mineralized zone at the Boss Mine.
Sample Preparation and Analysis:
All channel samples were collected with a hammer and chisel and represent continuous sampling of the material within the sample interval. Sample weights ranged from 4 to 6 kilograms and sample intervals ranged from 1.80 to 5.1 metres. All samples were prepared and analyzed by Loring laboratories Ltd. in Calgary, Alberta and were analyzed by using 32 element ICP analyses. The gold, platinum, palladium, silver and copper concentrations were determined by assay. Loring's quality system complies with the requirements for the International Standards ISO9001:2000. Analytical accuracy and precision are monitored by the use of international and in-house standards.
