NYSSA Presents 13th Annual Biotech and Specialty Pharmaceuticals Conference

Fri Nov 20, 3:02 PM

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The New York Society of Security Analysts (NYSSA) will present the 13th Annual Biotech and Specialty Pharmaceuticals Conference on December 1, 2009.

The biotech sector has rebounded off its Q1 lows of the year, but does the industry have what it takes to survive the long term? The major biotech indexes are either matching or outperforming the S&P 500. At the beginning of October, the Nasdaq Biotech Stock Index (NBI) was up nearly 10% YTD and the AMEX Biotech Index (BTK) had gains of almost 40%. The S&P 500 was up approximately 10%.

Despite the ripple effects of the credit crisis and the uncertainty of the global economy, many analysts expect the biotech sector to outperform by the end of 2009 and throughout 2010. Increasing M&A activity is expected into next year, serving as the biggest driver behind sector gains. Larger companies seeking bigger pipelines will continue to look for deals as smaller biotech companies face a cash crunch.

Attend to hear the CEOs, CFOs, and other executives from some of the industry’s most innovative small- and micro-cap companies discuss their plans to invent, develop, research, and market important new drugs, diagnostics, and delivery technologies.

Presenting companies include:
Cyclacel Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: CYCC)
DARA BioSciences, Inc. (Nasdaq: DARA)
Echo Therapeutics (OTCBB: ECTE.OB)
Emisphere Technologies (EMIS)
GenSpera, Inc. (OTCBB: GNSZ.OB)
Inovio Biomedical Corporation (NYSE, AMEX: INO)
Provectus Pharmaceuticals, Inc (OTCBB: PVCT.OB)

The conference will be held on December 1, 2009, 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. The location is NYSSA, 1177 Avenue of the Americas, 2nd Floor, NYC. The registration deadline is November 24, $265 NYSSA members, $365 nonmembers. No charge for press with credentials.
