Bombardier wins train contracts worth $276 million

TORONTO (Reuters) - Plane and train maker Bombardier Inc said on Monday it has won orders from German leasing company Railpool for 58 locomotives in contracts worth about 192 million euros ($276 million dollars).

The contracts include an option for an additional 80 trains, with first delivery planned for August 2009.

The Traxx locomotives are designed to transport goods, as well as passengers on national and international routes.

Final assembly of the trains will be done in Kassel, Germany, and the car bodies will be produced at Bombardier's site in Wroclaw, Poland.

Shares of Montreal-based Bombardier were up 0.9 percent at C$6.68 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
