NORTH READING, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--International Data Groups (IDG) Computerworld Honors Program selected Teradynes Global Search Project as a Laureate and Finalist in the manufacturing category of its 2008 technology awards.

Teradynes Global Search project, which allows Teradyne engineers to quickly access data in an efficient way, was selected by a group of 100 Chairmen/CEOs of global technology companies. Teradyne was selected, from a group of nominees from around the world, for its visionary application of information technology that promotes positive social and economic progress.

Founded in 1988, the Computerworld Honors Program is governed by the not-for-profit Computerworld Information Technology Awards Foundation. In its 20th year, Computerworld Honors is the longest running global program to honor individuals and organizations that use information technology to benefit society.

Each year, the Computerworld Honors Program seeks to recognize organizations, from a variety of sectors, for their ongoing efforts to utilize technology in order to benefit society, said Ron Milton, chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Computerworld Information Technology Awards Foundation and executive vice president of Computerworld. We are proud to provide a platform to publicly acknowledge these contributions.

Members of the Computerworld Honors Program Chairmens Committee identify organizations whose use of information technology have been especially noteworthy for the originality of its conception, the breadth of its vision and the significance of its benefit to society. These organizations are asked to contribute a case study to the program's collection, and the donation of these case studies is celebrated with a formal medal ceremony, where an accepted case study Laureate from each organization is publicly recognized.

From the Laureates in each of 10 categories, a distinguished panel of judges selects 50 Finalists, five in each category.

Each Laureate selected for this honor understands the importance of using ones resources and technical prowess to benefit ones fellow man, said Bob Carrigan, Chairman of the Computerworld Honors Program Chairmens Committee and President, IDG Communications.
