Performance Technologies Delivers Core Signalling Solution With Network Upgrade to FINTEL
Tue Aug 26, 8:00 AMROCHESTER, N.Y., Aug. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Performance Technologies (Nasdaq: PTIX), a leading developer of communication platforms and systems, today announced that Fiji International Telecommunications Limited (FINTEL) has implemented the company's SEGway(TM) STP Signalling Solution with Point Code Emulation(TM) (PCE) technology to meet its high-growth, international signalling requirements. FINTEL, partially owned by Cable & Wireless, provides international telecommunications service to and through the South Pacific Island of Fiji.
Driven by the increased signalling demands of worldwide VoIP and wireless traffic, FINTEL undertook an aggressive expansion of its network capacity by adding the advanced STP technology. In just three weeks the next generation international signalling solution was engineered, installed, and placed into service.
"We were very impressed with Performance Technologies' approach," said Ioane Koroivuki, network manager at FINTEL. "They offered us an alternative to costly upgrades of legacy systems; instead we invested in feature-rich, next generation network gear that grows with our needs."
Using SEGway's PCE feature, FINTEL will have the ability to manipulate SS7 nodes transparently, configuring new SS7 nodes or rolling out new services efficiently, without interruption to service. By avoiding the need to schedule ongoing network changes with all interconnect partners, the operator is able to continually reconfigure its network for maximum performance. Point Code Emulation gives network operators optimal control over their networks, and is the most cost effective solution for expanding networks.
"We are delighted to participate in FINTEL's timely network expansion as they play a pivotal role in international telecommunications," said Cory Grant, vice president of international sales for Performance Technologies. "We continue to extend our reach in the Pacific Rim through this successful business partnership that builds upon our 'Simply Smarter Signalling(TM)' philosophy."
Performance Technologies offers a broad spectrum of signalling solutions that enable telecommunications providers to deliver value added services that quickly and cost efficiently drive new revenue opportunities, while preserving and leveraging existing network infrastructure. The next-generation SEGway SS7 Signalling Solutions are scalable and flexible and offer full routing, address translation, and gateway screening, using standard protocols including SS7-TDM, ATM, SIGTRAN-IP, allowing service providers any-to-any connectivity.
