MDU Resources Group Names Bill Connors Vice President - Renewable Resources

BISMARCK, N.D.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MDU Resources Group, Inc. (NYSE: MDU) today announced that Bill Connors has been named vice president renewable resources, effective Sept. 1.

Connors will lead the development of a corporatewide renewable resources investment strategy. He will focus on identifying potential investment opportunities that are complementary to the companys existing business units and on strategic responses to legislation and regulations related to carbon emissions and renewable energy.

Bill will help us expand and capitalize on the renewable efforts already under way at our business units by developing a coordinated strategy across the corporation, said Terry D. Hildestad, president and CEO of MDU Resources Group. He will help us develop a better understanding of the renewable resources market that is evolving in this country, and build an investment strategy that can provide solid shareholder returns.

In addition, our business units will be affected by legislation and regulations that address carbon emissions and renewable energy. Bill will help us develop a strategy to operate successfully in this environment and to identify business opportunities that might arise as a result of the legislative and regulatory actions.

Connors, with more than 20 years of experience in the energy industry, joined the company in 2004. As vice president origination, contracts and regulatory for Centennial Energy Resources LLC, an MDU Resources subsidiary, Connors helped lead the sale of the companys domestic independent power business unit in 2007. He became vice president business development for Cascade Natural Gas Corporation following MDUs acquisition of that company in 2007.

Connors holds a law degree from the University of Washington School of Law in Seattle, and a bachelors degree in accounting from Carroll College in Helena, Mont. Connors, his wife and their three children live in the Seattle area.
