TORONTO, Nov. 27 /CNW/ - Sears Canada Inc. (TSX: SCC.TO) announced today that it is launching an early "Boxing Day" promotion as Canadians embark on one of the busiest shopping week-ends of the year. The Boxing Day Friday event takes place on Friday, November 28, 2008, during Sears Days, one of the most anticipated sales of the season already known for featuring the lowest prices of the year on hundreds of items.

Sears Canada's early Boxing Day event is another way Sears in helping Canadians save money during these uncertain economic times; earlier this week the Conference Board of Canada announced that consumer confidence was at a 26-year low.

"There are numerous economic and consumer reports which have indicated that Canadians will be looking to stretch their budgets even more than in recent years in order to enjoy the Holiday gift giving period to its fullest," said Dene Rogers, President and Chief Executive Officer, Sears Canada Inc. "These are uncertain times for many people. Sears Days is our biggest sale of the year and our Boxing Day Friday event will help Canadians stretch their dollar even further."

To help Canadians get started on this busy season and knowing how time pressures can increase at this time of year, Sears has also announced that almost all its stores will remain open until 11:00 p.m. on Friday, November 28th, where permitted, so that customers can conclude their work day on Friday and still take advantage of the early Boxing Day promotion.
