Update on situation at 135/155 Deguire Blvd

MONTREAL, Nov. 27 /CNW Telbec/ - CAP REIT provides the following update on the 135 and 155 Deguire Blvd. situation.

Access to apartments at 135 Deguire: A joint preliminary inspection was conducted today by relevant authorities and CAP REIT engineers of the parking garage of 135 Deguire Blvd. The inspections confirmed that debris in the damaged garage must be stabilized before further inspections can occur, and to ensure that any shift of the debris, or of remaining parts of the garage, does not create structural threats to the residential building at 135 Deguire, which is otherwise safe. This process is expected to take a numbers of days, during which residents will not be permitted general access to the building. With the assistance of CAP REIT, residents of 135 Deguire are being permitted supervised, limited access to their apartments, to retrieve urgently required items such as medication.

Access to parking garage at 135 Deguire: The parking garage remains closed and inaccessible to vehicle-owners until further notice, as directed by the Régie du Bâtiment du Québec.

Access to parking garage at 155 Deguire: Régie du Bâtiment du Québec has restricted public access to the parking garage of 155 Deguire Blvd as a precaution. Régie du Bâtiment du Québec has granted CAP REIT access to the parking garage of 155 Deguire Blvd to conduct precautionary reinforcing of the structure. Following confirmation that this work has been done, vehicles will be removed from the parking garage of 155 Deguire to enable additional inspection. This process is expected to take approximately 48 hours. Upon completion of the process, information will be provided regarding the resumption of general access to the parking garage. There is no restriction on access to the residential building at 155 Deguire.

Accommodation for residents of 135 Deguire: CAP REIT continues to fund and coordinate alternate accommodation, as well as necessary food and clothing, in cooperation with the Red Cross, for residents of 135 Deguire who have been temporarily displaced. Residents have been provided accommodations in local hotels, and transportation service is being provided by CAP REIT to residents of both 135 and 155 Deguire in the form of shuttles between the hotels, 135/155 Deguire and local transit, as well as vans and drivers for other necessary trips.

Information to residents: Residents of 135 and 155 Deguire are being kept informed of the situation through verbal and written notices delivered door-to-door at the hotels and within 155 Deguire. As well, an information centre manned by CAP REIT representatives has been established in the lobby area of 155 Deguire and will remain active until the situation has been resolved.
