Sears Reminds Ontario Customers About Last 3 days to Save Tax on ENERGY STAR(R) Qualified Appliances

August 31, 2009 last day to save Ontario Retail Sales Tax

TORONTO, Aug. 28 /CNW/ - Sears Canada Inc. (TSX: SCC.TO) reminds Ontario customers that the final day to save the Retail Sales Tax (RST) on ENERGY STAR qualified appliances is Monday, August 31, 2009. Up to and including that date, the sales tax will not be charged at point of sale, resulting in meaningful savings for customers who act before the deadline. Beginning September 1, 2009, sales tax will resume on all ENERGY STAR appliance transactions.

Save the equivalent on the GST too!

In addition to saving the Ontario RST, Sears customers can save the equivalent of the federal GST until August 31 too during Sears "It's like there's NO GST ADDED" sale starting Saturday, August 29. Sears customers can also defer their payment for free until November, 2009 when they use their Sears Card or Sears MasterCard.

As well as saving the Ontario RST and the equivalent of the federal GST, Sears has discounted the price of some of its most popular appliances during this period. For example, the Kenmore Elite HE3 front-load washer is $1,049.99, regularly 1299.99. That's a $250 saving, in addition to the RST and GST-equivalent savings! Choose from an 18.2 cu. ft. Kenmore top-freezer refrigerator at $589.99, regularly $629.99 or an 18.7 cu. ft. bottom-freezer refrigerator for $999.99, regularly $1099.99. Over 90% of Kenmore dishwashers are ENERGY STAR qualified, including the Kenmore 24-inch tall-tub dishwasher for $529.99, regularly $599.99.
