Food Network Makes Quick Work of Thanksgiving Leftovers
Fri Nov 28, 8:00 AMNEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Every year it’s the same story: tons of turkey, piles of pies, and side dishes as far as the eye can see. And that’s after the Thanksgiving feast is over! Food Network can help with those leftovers with its new mobile application, Food Network Mobile, offering access to thousands of recipes at FoodNetwork.com, videos featuring talented Food Network hosts and the know-how that can only come from the No. 1 Web site in food & cooking. (http://mobile.foodnetwork.com)
Each year millions of people turn to FoodNetwork.com for recipes and inspiration in preparing the Thanksgiving meal, and millions more seek ideas for creative ways to utilize all the leftovers. This year the site organizes all those ideas in a handy “leftovers” section that can be accessed from the kitchen, the car, or the grocery store aisle.
“Being in store and having access to quickly and easily find trusted, tested recipes that feature your leftover items is an exciting feature of Food Network Mobile,” says Deanna Brown, president of Scripps Networks Digital. “How many times have you stopped at the store but you don’t have the recipe you want to make with you? Now with Food Network Mobile, it’s no problem. The interface is friendly and the search is very strong; so right in your phone you have access to the thousands of recipes from FoodNetwork.com. Being where consumers need us, when they need us, such as through this mobile application, is key to our strategy for continued success and leadership in the food category.”
Food Network Mobile is a free, ad-supported service, though standard text messaging rates and data charges from carriers may apply. The thousands of recipes available through Food Network Mobile will be consistently updated, and while the current focus is on Thanksgiving leftovers, highlighted content will change according to the season to meet consumer needs. Consumers can browse the mobile site by course or ingredients, allowing meal ideas to be adapted by items on sale or fresh produce available.
Unilever, well known for its pioneering digital advertising strategies, has agreed to partner with Scripps Networks Digital, to extend its online and on-air sponsorship of the FoodNetwork.com Web site to Food Network Mobile, enhancing its promotion of Hellmann’s mayonnaise (known as Best Foods west of the Rockies), a key ingredient in many holiday leftover dishes. As part of this partnership, Hellmann’s will provide Scripps Networks Digital, with its own recipes for using mayo to liven up leftovers. These will be integrated into the mobile recipe search. As part of these holiday leftover solutions, Scripps Networks Digital will also create custom cooking videos, featuring Hellmann’s product for both online and mobile integration.
According to Unilever spokesperson Phyllis Joseph, "We saw the mobile component as a great way to connect the dots for our consumers and extend communication via an increasingly relevant screen – and one with which Unilever is actively engaged. The mobile elements enhance an already rich program by providing the opportunity to bring the story to the store and help drive purchase."
Two easy ways to access the free Food Network Mobile content:
1. Type “mobile.foodnetwork.com” into the browser of an Internet-enabled mobile device to go directly to the content.
2. Text ‘HOLIDAY’ to 36636 and we will send the mobile link to your phone via text message.
