Southern Hemisphere Mining: Continued Reconnaissance Reverse Circulation Drilling at the Company's El Arrayan Project in Chile Has Intersected Copper
Thu May 29, 10:41 AMTORONTO, CANADA--(Marketwire - May 29, 2008) - Southern Hemisphere Mining Limited (TSX VENTURE: SH.V) ("Southern Hemisphere"), is pleased to announce results from further drilling at the El Arrayan property.
Selected intercepts from four holes from the 1,140-metre seven hole drilling program include the following. (Note Hole ELRC1 was abandoned) - Hole ELRC2: 78 metres at 0.96 per cent copper and 9.4 grams per tonne (g/t) silver including 40 metres at 1.4 per cent copper and 15.5 g/t silver. (previously reported) - Hole ELRC3: 16 meters at 1.6 per cent copper and 4.8 g/t silver. (previously reported) - Hole ELRC4: 18 meters at 0.4 percent copper and 1.4g/t silver - Hole ELRC5: 40meters at 0.4 percent copper and 0.8 g/t silver, including 14 meters at 0.8 percent copper and 1.4 g/t silver. Interpretation of satellite ASTER image data previously defined six areas within the El Arrayan project with surface alteration characteristics considered prospective for mineralized porphyry systems. Subsequent surface soil geochemical data has further identified one ASTER target area that shows elevated and coincident responses (levels over 12 times background) for copper, molybdenum, gold, silver lead and zinc within an area measuring approximately 1.8km by 1.2km. All analyses referred to above were completed by ALS Chemex at the La Serena and Perth Laboratories, both of which are accredited analytical facilities. Check and duplicate sample analyses confirmed that all results were within acceptable industry limits for precision and accuracy. Russell Birrell, designated as the qualified person defined by the National Instrument 43-101, prepared the data as described in this release.
