Solarflare to Demo with PANDUIT at Cisco Networkers Live 2009
Mon Jun 29, 8:15 AMIRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Solarflare Communications, the leading provider of standards-compliant 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) silicon and VMware® Technology Alliance Partner, will showcase a highly-available virtualized data center network over 10GBASE-T with PANDUIT at the Cisco Networkers Live Conference in San Francisco, June 29-July 2 at booth #515.
The data center network on display is the first public demonstration of ESX NIC teaming and failover / fallback, which delivers the resiliency and redundancy virtual servers need to support mission-critical applications. If one switch-to-server link fails, the virtual server’s network connection is switched to the redundant backup link while maintaining, without error, the various traffic streams: iSCSI storage, Vmotion and video.
As server virtualization becomes more prevalent in data center environments, a high-speed data transport capability is ideal. With multiple virtual machines, server I/O is throttled in a 1 Gigabit network. By incorporating Solarflare’s Solarstorm® vNIC controllers and 10Xpress® 10GBASE-T transceivers, the PANDUIT® TX6A™ 10GIG™ Category 6A UTP Cabling System and a Cisco Catalyst® 6503 switch with the VMware™ ESX platform, virtual machines can achieve 10 Gigabit performance.
“Virtual machines in data centers need to deliver the same level of high availability as real physical hardware,” said Bruce Tolley, vice president of corporate marketing at Solarflare Communications. “Our high-performance 10 Gigabit Ethernet vNIC controller and 10GBASE-T PHY solutions not only make upgrading to 10Gbps speeds possible and cost-efficient, but also deliver features, such as high availability, that mission critical applications demand.”
About Solarflare® 10GbE Products
