VANCOUVER, July 29 /CNW/ - Starfire Minerals Inc., ("the Company") is pleased to announce that it has completed the first phase of the 2008 drilling program at the Porphyry Pearl Property in the Toodoggone District, British Columbia. The target is a copper-gold porphyry similar to that at Northgate's Kemess Mine, located 59 km to the southeast of the property.

Hole PP-07-06, (azimuth 240 degrees, inclination -60 degrees) which was stopped in mineralized material on September 29, 2007 was deepened as planned (see the Company's news release of July 7, 2008). The hole was continued from 166.12 meters to 450 meters, intersecting sulphide-mineralized stockwork quartz veining.

Two additional holes were collared from the same setup as PP-07-06. Hole PP-08-07 (azimuth 220 degrees, inclination -60 degrees) was drilled to a depth of 429 meters. It intersected sections of stockwork mineralization typical of alkaline porphyry deposits. Sulfides in the stockworks consist of fine grained pyrite and very fine grained chalcopyrite. Several quartz-carbonate veins contain galena, sphalerite and chalcopyrite. Molybdenite occurs on some fractures and in microveinlets. Flow brecciated volcanics containing 1-3% pyrite complete the section.

Hole PP-08-08 (azimuth 265 degrees, inclination -55 degrees) was drilled to a depth of 450 meters. It intersected rocks similar to hole PP-07-06 with some of the quartz stockwork veins containing chalcocite and chalcopyrite. Some veins contain up to 15% magnetite with the chalcopyrite. An intermittent mineralized zone containing stockwork quartz and quartz-carbonate veining was intersected from 300 meters to 380 meters. Chalcocite and chalcopyrite with magnetite, specular hematite and pyrite occur near the bottom of the section in siliceous and potassic altered zones. Flow brecciated volcanics complete the hole. Several core specimens were shipped to Vancouver Petrographics for examination. A report is due shortly.

The drilling has been temporarily suspended pending analytical results.
