Standard & Poor's Announces Changes In S&P/TSX Canadian Indices
Mon Jun 30, 5:17 PMTORONTO, June 30 /CNW/ - Standard & Poor's Canadian Index Operations announces the following index changes:
- The shareholders of Metallica Resources Inc. (TSX: MR.TO), New Gold Inc.
(TSX: NGD.TO) and Peak Gold Ltd. (TSXVN: PIK) have approved the business
combination of the three companies. In the S&P/TSX Global Gold and
Global Mining indices, shareholders of Metallica Resources will
receive 0.9 shares of New Gold for each share. The GICS (Global
Industry Classification Standard) code for New Gold will change from
15104020 - Diversified Metals & Mining - to 15104030 - Gold -
effective with the transaction which will take place after the close
on Friday, July 4, 2008. In the S&P/TSX SmallCap and Equity SmallCap
indices, the index shares of New Gold will increase by the shares
issued for Metallica.
Company additions to and deletions from an S&P equity index do not in any way reflect an opinion on the investment merits of the company.
