Jim Flaherty comforted by recent loonie stability
Fri Oct 30, 12:05 PMTORONTO (Reuters) - Canadian Finance Minister Jim Flaherty said on Friday he was comforted by the recent stability in the Canadian dollar after weeks of fluctuations.
"Like the governor of the Bank of Canada, we are concerned with volatility in our currency. We are seeing some stability of late, which is to be desired, and so we're all comfortable with that," he told reporters.
"There's no question longer term that in global terms we're seeing a lot of downward pressure on the U.S. dollar, and that affects all of the market currencies, including the Canadian dollar."
